MOA signing for Quality Public Basic Education in Negros Oriental

PSLINK-Visayas Regional Council held a successful signing ceremony with select pilot schools from the DepEd Negros Oriental Division last May 2012 as part of the Country Program on Improving Delivery of Public Basic Education that PSLINK is implementing in partnership with the LO/FTF Council.

Present during the ceremony were the following:

  • Gil Villegas, PSLINK-VRC Deputy General Secretary
  • Division Superintendent Miralyn Andales, DepEd Division of Negros Oriental
  • Mayor Alberto Ator, Municipality of Siaton
  • Mayor Leon Lopez, Municipality of Sta. Catalina
  • Mayor Dandilgust Abrio, Municipality of Basay

PSLINK-VRC leads Civic Voices Showcase and MOA Signing Ceremony in Tacloban City

PSLINK Visayas Regional Council holds their first Civic Voices Showcase event on June 27, 2011 at the DepEd Division Office of Tacloban City.

Attended by representatives from the Department of Education, students, parents, democracy activists, and local media, the event served as a means to promote the project in the area and involve more secondary social studies teachers. For the first time PSLINK and the DepEd Division of Tacloban City also signed a Memorandum of Agreement to Support Civic Voices and Quality Civics Instruction.

Select clips from the video interviews collected by students in the participating Tacloban schools were screened during the activity. Parents and the democracy activists present were very proud of the work that the students have accomplished.

Civic Voices Showcase and MOA Signing Ceremony held in Pagadian City

PSLINK organized a very successful Civic Voices Showcase event on June 24, 2011 at the DepEd Division Office of Pagadian City, Mindanao.

Attended by DepEd officials, teachers, students, parents, democracy activists, and the media, the event promoted the gains of the project and led to the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement to Support Civic Voices and Quality Civics Instruction between PSLINK and the DepEd Division of Pagadian City.

All the participants signed onto the Civic Voices banner as a way of showing their commitment to the project.

2-day Civic Voices division-wide training for social studies teachers held in Pagadian City

A two-day division–wide training of social studies teachers was organized by PSLINK-Mindanao Regional Council in Bay Plaza Hotel, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur on June 2-3, 2011.

The teachers were trained on civic engagement, primary sources, democracy concepts, structuring questions, and using video cameras to improve their teaching approaches and make social studies an interesting subject for their students. The participants were very enthusiastic of the Civic Voices Project and also see it as an important endeavor so that they can document their own local history and democratic struggles.

Participating unions/schools were provided video cameras, tripods, data storage devices and other equipment to implement the project.
